Migration Working Group
The Migration Working Group provides a supportive and conducive environment for the professional and scholarly development of UC Berkeley faculty and graduate students working on issues of migration. The thematic focus of the group continues to be on issues of economic globalization and international migration, border enforcement policies and practices, and public policy with respect to Latinos. CLPR expects that participants will submit works-in-progress for publication.

Dissertation Working Group
In July 2004, CLPR began supporting a Graduate Student Dissertation Working Group — La Colectiva. The group provides a friendly environment where students review and discuss each other’s work. The group is composed of doctoral and master students at different stages of the writing process (preparing for orals, developing their prospectuses, writing chapters, etc). Participants actively set the agenda for the group’s activities and progress benchmarks.

California Higher Education Equity Working Group
Through a grant from the system-wide University of California Committee on Latino Research, CLPR has organized a California Higher Education Equity Working Group to assess and identify the best practices that facilitate the retention of underrepresented undergraduate students, the successful completion of four-year university programs, and the enhanced competitiveness for admission into graduate and professional schools. Specific goals include the preparation of extramural proposals for collaborative research and training projects related to higher education equity issues in California.
